Fischer Wool over time
From our beginnings in Babenhausen to the present day, much has changed at Fischer Wolle. Join us on a short journey through our history.
Fischer Wolle evolved from a small exchange center
The history of Fischer Wolle began back in 1946. Shortly after the war, Georg Fischer opened a trading center in Babenhausen – based on the motto "Swap children's shoes for a men's shirt." Following the currency reform, this developed into a specialist wool and textile shop.
What started small grew over the decades into a company that provides knitting and handicraft enthusiasts all over Germany and beyond with wool, ideas, and inspiration.

Today
Online shop, shipping center, and large needlework market under one roof
A lot has changed. Our passion hasn't.
Even in the past, Fischer Wolle focused on a large selection, reliable shipping, and expert advice. Today, we combine this experience with modern processes, an extensive online shop, and always new ideas around knitting and crocheting.
What has remained: our enthusiasm for wool and the claim to offer you the right materials and inspirations for your next project.
Fischer Wool today
From wool and sock yarn to needles and accessories, as well as knitting and crochet patterns, you will find everything you need for your next handicraft project. A special focus is on our own patterns and instructions, which are regularly developed by our team.
That's what makes our hearts beat faster
For us, every craft project starts with an idea – and the right yarn. That's why we don't just want to offer you wool, but to accompany you from the first inspiration to the finished favorite piece.
It's great to have you at Fischer Wolle.
